September 19th, 2016   End of project workshop Vienna

(forthcoming, see "Events" page)

April 27 - 28, 2016   IdTechEx "Energy Harvesting" convention Berlin

Fraunhofer has own, very well trafficked booth.

March 15, 2016 New micro battery and prototype line made available to MATFLEXEND

Fraunhofer IZM has installed a new 10-meter long battery development and assembly line that enables production of sub-micro batteries with unparalleled precision in a huge Argon glove box system. The line has been funded by IZM internally.
Said batteries can be assembled into highly flexible arrays sitting on compliant substrates; final MATFLEXEND battery demonstrators will be assembled in this line.

Feb 18th,  2016  Innovative glove box delivered to IZM
MATFLEXEND objectives include printing electrolyte/separator layers for flexible lithium ion batteries, needing an inert-gas glove box. Fraunhofer IZM took deliver of a completely new design by supplier Coruna GmbH, enabling gloves operation, and screen transfer through a load lock system. 70 µm line / space resolution was demonstrated.

Joachim Biegel, Coruna Printed Electronics GmbH, demonstrates the printer operation prior to integration into the glove box.

Jan 27th,  2016  IMMS shows first version of MATFLEXEND harvester electronics
A sophisticated high precision measurement setup for the extremely small and erratic current pulses generated at high voltages by the capacitive harvester was supplied by IMMS of Ilmenau, Germany (www.imms.de), a IZM subcontractor in FP7 MATFLEXEND; it integrates the current and displays the mean harvested current, and is part of Deliverable 55.

Björn Bieske and Gerrit Kropp (IMMS) are presenting the small energy harvesting measurement device which corresponds to MATFLEXEND deliverable D55.

Jan 25-27th, 2016  Transfer of EPD technology to Fraunhofer IZM
Electrophoretic deposition of lithium titanate and lithium iron phosphate electrodes has been developed by MATFLEXEND partner LAAS in France, and transferred to Fraunhofer IZM as part of Deliverable D36.

Amponsah Kyeremateng, LAAS (right) showed the details of electrophoretic electrode deposition to Giusseppe Elia (left) who takes care of this technology for the Berlin MATFLEXEND group.
