One-Day WORKSHOP: Berlin April 27th 2015
The first of two planned industry workshops in the project has been held jointly with Fraunhofer IZM in Berlin, presenting two related developments: the Fraunhofer integrated micro battery alongside with flexible capacitive energy harvesting, and battery technology developed in MATFLEXEND (see also the "Events" page on this site). Technologies for the complete development / piloting chain were discussed, including: numerical simulations of both battery and harvester design; novel materials for battery electrodes and printable separators, high-k dielectrics and flexible electrodes; micro battery packaging based on ceramics (LTCC), silicon and flux laminate technologies; and finally, ultra-low power electronics for harvester and battery management. Battery integration and prototype devices were demonstrated.MATFLEXEND´s flexible energy harvesters are intended for wearables including smart textiles, shoes and other applications where mechanical compliance is needed.
